Its amazing what one communication website can do. 17 million people are currently active. Wow. And the increase of people that know about is pretty high too. I'm pretty sure I had no idea what twitter was 2 or 3 years ago. And now the majority of my friends have a twitter. Its true that its very easy to set up. Very easy to access, you just have to open your phone and insert text. And those who advertise their products and names can really get a lot of business just by sending out a text. Twitter is kind of a way of keeping the world connected.

I believe the reason for this happening is because it's free and nowadays in this economy we need free things. Also I knew that facebook was more popular then twitter but not only 1 percent more that is very surprising. This could be because more people are becoming aware of twitter because people that have or follow twitter tell their friends and family. I wouldn't agree that twitter is the kind of way of keeping the world connected but it is a source i believe the internet is the way the world is connected.

I had no idea that Twitter had gotten so huge. It makes me think of the movie that was made of Facebook, and how huge the website got in such a short amount of time. The whole concept of this kind of website was originally brought about by Myspace, although Myspace is quickly dying thanks to Facebook and Twitter. Twitter is not only a place for people all over the world to interact, it is also a handy tool for business and advertisers who want to get their word out about something. I think the increase in popularity is expected, and I think sites like Twitter will continue to expand and attract users.

I think it's great that sites like Twitter and Facebook are growing. I worry that it could have some negative effects on people and their personal lives though. Neglecting their loved ones, getting fired or not hired because employers checking the employees updates, and just plane spending too much time in virtual reality and not enough in the real world.
ReplyDeleteI think these social media sites are a wonderful tool to keep in contact with friends or family whom have moved away. I think it's a great tool for advertisers. Like anything though, I think some people can take it too far by spending every waking minute "socializing".
Twitter has really come a long way. But businesses miss use this awesome power. For small business twitter is a great communication and advertising tool intact it is the small business that is dominating he twitter market. The real value of twitter for most businesses is that is gives a very personal inside look a what the consumer is thinking and what they are talking about. Businesses should be more concerned with who they fallow and not who fallows them.

Twitter is easy to use and allows companies to give out information to customers cheaply and effectively. I used to be a facebook-er, but have found the spam and advertisements most annoying. Twitter makes it easy for me to see what I want to see and only what I want to see. I follow my friends, family, and even some celebrities that I find interesting. Some businesses I follow have contests and drawings for their followers that makes it interesting and fun. I think it's a great way to share information with people about what interests you.

I do believe Twitter has become a lot more popular recently. Even I have barely just started using Twitter. I think there are many different ways people use Twitter, which kind of sets it apart from other social networking sites. How I use Twitter is I never really tweet anything, but I use it to follow companies and celebrities, and it allows you to feel closer to celebrities. Unlike Facebook, Twitter allows you to interact with strangers more and readily share information from other peoples' pages. I'm sure that it is just a matter of time before Twitter reaches a wider range of people because it took the other social networking sites awhile to reach their peak of users.

I am surprising about this stastics. How many people use twitter in these days!Maybe, the rate is more increasing in the future. I afraid one phrase,"twitter addicted" come up soon. Some people use twtter to say thier opinion, but some people use it for checking information. Company found new advertising place in the twitter.
ReplyDeleteI want to know how many people withdraw from twitter but still have account. Because, I heard one news that many talent stop to tweet on twitter. There are 87% of people use twitter but just 17 million of people is active user. I think twitter become famouse tool among people or not depends on how twitter deal with current situation.

Apparently I am not the only one baffled by these statistics. I am absolutely shocked that so many people use Twitter. I have never even gotten on the website - and I have no idea how it works. I understand that people use Twitter to announce sales promotions or other big events. And I understand it would be a convenient tool for journalists or other writers to receive updates from celebrities, companies, teachers, etc. But I don't really understand how it is popular. It just doesn't really appeal to me. I don't want to get on somebody's profile and get a play-by-play of every day. I would rather talk to somebody face to face and have an old-fashioned conversation.

I think that the reason Twitter has become more well known is because more and more celebrities are joining twitter which gives it more advertising. I don't understand why people join twitter or care what celebrities are doing all the time.
ReplyDeleteI haven't followed twitter and dont really care to. The increase of interest in twitter i would say is because of celebrities use of it.
ReplyDeleteI personally never got into Twitter. I thought it was a more "stalker-ish" version of Facebook, to be honest. Now, that is not to say those who use it for that purpose, but I believe that many people "jumped on the bandwagon" and made an account just to say they had one. I personally think it's weird to "follow" people and to post updates of your daily life for your self for other's to "follow" as well. I don't have an account, so my thoughts on Twitter may not be correct, but from exploring the site and hearing celebs talk about it, that is how I drew my conclusions.

These statistics surprise me. I dont really get twitter, I guess. I opened a twitter account a while ago because I constantly hear about how great it is, and alot of the late night TV shows I watch mention it, so I thought maybe I was missing something great and should check it out.. I have sent a total of 3 tweets ever. Im just not thrilled by it, It makes me feel old, but I just dont understand twitter. :)
